Through the 2020 Digital Innovators program, Director of Nursing Cynthia Gonzalez will be part of a team that will develop creative, tech-driven ways to teach nursing at ؾ. Gonzalez belongs to one of 15 teams chosen for the selective Graduate Nursing Student Academy program.
Gonzalez joined the accelerated nursing program in March after ؾ's integration with Robert Morris University Illinois. "I am excited to be part of a team that will look at integrating ideas, such as Bloom’s Taxonomy for teaching, into technology using Apple-based products," she said.
The Digital Innovators program explores how mobile technology could modernize how nursing is taught. Gonzalez and her partner will meet twice a month with their faculty advisors to build their digital skill sets. In August, her group will present a showcase at a national conference.
"During this time of COVID-19, we have seen the importance of using technology," Gonzalez said. "Learning more about the innovative use of digital platforms will allow us to show students new educational formats that will increase engagement in learning.”
Cynthia Gonzalez will graduate with her PhD in nursing from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 2021. She worked in nursing education for almost 25 years at Weiss Memorial Hospital before becoming director of the ؾ nursing program.
