The Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) Program at �ؾ�� is an intensive, accelerated program designed for students willing to commit to a rigorous course of study and who are dedicated to promoting social justice through healthcare.

What Is An International Student?

If you are not a U.S. Citizen, nor a Permanent Resident (Green Card Holder), you are considered to be an international student. International students are considered to be non-immigrants and non-permanent resident. Therefore, international students are not eligible for U.S. Federal or State financial aid.

Application Deadlines, Residency Requirements & Orientation

We welcome pharmacy applications from international students. In order to ensure that applications are able to be reviewed in time and students are able to participate in the program in person (on campus), we require that international students adhere to the following requirements:

Application Deadline

The application deadline for international students residing in the U.S. and Canada is Tuesday, April 15.

Program Start Date

The date that international students are required to be in the U.S. is Friday, May 16.

International Student Pharmacy Orientation

An orientation for all international students (regardless of where they reside) will be held in person at our Schaumburg location on Monday, May 19. Mandatory attendance is required. More information will be forthcoming prior to the event.

Pharmacy Orientation

All students who have been accepted to our Doctor of Pharmacy program will participate in an in-person orientation on Monday, June 16. Mandatory attendance is required.

First Day of Classes

Students will begin their first day of classes on Tuesday, June 17.

International Students Currently Residing in the U.S.

International students who are transferring their student visa from another U.S. institution must do so no later than Sunday, June 1.

Foreign Degree Recipients and International Student Policy

To be considered for the Doctor of Pharmacy Program, applicants must meet the requirements for international students to attend �ؾ�� (please review the Requirements for International Students). Applicants must also complete the following and will be considered on a case-by-case basis:

Apply to �ؾ�� Pharmacy Program through the application system.
1. February 1st -deadline to apply for international students overseas
2. April 15th -deadline to apply for international students in the U.S. and Canada
Meet all �ؾ�� Doctor of Pharmacy Admission Requirements.
Additional Requirements:
1. Meet the �ؾ�� English Language Proficiency Requirement for TEOFL iBT, TOEFL Essentials or IELTS. Other Language Proficiency Exams may be substituted on a case-by-case basis.
  - The English language proficiency requirement is waived for those students who:
    1. Successfully completed at least 30 credit hours at an accredited U.S. college or university.
    2. Earned a bachelor’s, master’s, or doctorate degree in the U.S.
2. Students who wish to receive credit for pre-pharmacy coursework completed at a college or university located outside the United States must secure the services of a credential evaluation service. �ؾ�� accepts foreign credential evaluations from the following agencies:
3. Results of the foreign transcript evaluation and the grade earned in the courses will be used by the �ؾ�� Doctor of Pharmacy program to determine if any of the credits can be used towards the fulfillment of the pre-pharmacy requirements.
4. Prospective students who have successfully graduated within the last 5 years from a program in pharmacy that meets current and meet the following requirements may be considered to have all RU Pharmacy Prerequisites satisfied.
  - Obtain a recommended overall GPA of no less than 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  - It is recommended all coursework be passed with a minimum grade of C.

As with any pharmacy program the admission requirements are subject to change. Please review the admission requirements periodically for updates and modifications.

PharmCAS Admission Requirements

Admission to �ؾ��’s College of Science, Health & Pharmacy is granted on a competitive basis and requires applicants to complete a comprehensive application and interview process. Interviews are limited and are offered to individuals based upon the Admission Review Committee’s recommendation and invitation. Application review, interviews, and decision notifications are completed on a rolling basis.

PREPARING FOR AND COMPLETING THE PHARMD APPLICATION PROCESS

Admission Requirements

To help prospective applicants prepare for admission to the �ؾ�� Doctor of Pharmacy program, the general admission criteria are listed below.

In order to select the strongest candidates from the pool of qualified applicants, the Admission Committee will assess successful completion of a pre-pharmacy curriculum, the applicant’s letters of recommendation, admission interview, service, volunteer and co-curricular experiences, health-related work experiences, and written communication.

(Students who are/were enrolled in a another Doctor of Pharmacy program, please note the admission criteria listed below.)

Complete a minimum of 60 semester credit hours of pre-pharmacy study at an accredited college or university.
1. Achieve a recommended cumulative grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale for all courses completed. All math and science courses have a recommended grade point average of 2.5.
2. Earn a grade of C- or better in all required course work.
3. It is recommended that all pre-pharmacy courses are completed by June 1 of the desired year of entry.
4. Prerequisite courses older than 10 years may be accepted at the discretion of the Admissions Committee. A resume outlining work and any volunteer and co-curricular experiences is required, dating back to the earliest prerequisite.
Submit a minimum of two letters of recommendation with the PharmCAS application. If an institution prepares committee evaluations for students, those can be substituted for the two letters of recommendation.
A holistic evaluation of every applicant is performed by the Admissions Committee. A math/science gpa of 2.75 is highly recommended for a competitive application, however, applications not meeting this will be reviewed on a case-by- case basis using a holistic approach.
Reflect the successful practice of service through community engagement or extracurricular activities.
Demonstrate the proper motivation for and commitment to the profession of pharmacy through previous work, volunteer or life experiences.
Possess the oral and written communication skills necessary to interact successfully with patients and colleagues.
Complete the �ؾ�� Doctor of Pharmacy applicant interview process (invitation only).
Doctor of Pharmacy classes begin in the summer of each year.
