²Ø¾«¸ó’s mission is grounded in access to higher education and creates opportunities for students to have a unique and transformational college experience. Financing college can be a daunting process, and ²Ø¾«¸ó continues to look for ways to make funding your education more transparent and less confusing. With these principles in mind, ²Ø¾«¸ó will be lowering the undergraduate tuition rate for the 2023-2024 academic year to better align with our mission of social justice and historical diversity.

Why now?

This aligns with ²Ø¾«¸ó’s commitment to creating access to higher education, opening a gateway to the American Dream, and removing barriers to earning a degree.

We hope to inspire prospective new freshman and transfer students, specifically, to include ²Ø¾«¸ó in their selection and application set for Fall 2023 because it is affordable and attainable.

What will be the new published tuition price?

Will room and board pricing be reduced?

Room and board pricing posted on the website would not change. ²Ø¾«¸ó’s room and board is very competitive, especially being located in the heart of Chicago’s Loop.

Will summer school tuition change in 2023?

Summer school pricing posted on the website would not change. Summer school is a very affordable option for all students.

Can I enroll in Fall 2023 instead of Spring 2022 to take advantage of the new tuition pricing?

We encourage students to continue with their academic plan. ²Ø¾«¸ó will work with students to review their financial aid offers and ensure equitable pricing.

What if I don’t need financial aid?

Tuition for new students enrolling during the 2023–24 academic year will be $20,000 (not including room and board). All students are considered for academic scholarships at the time of application.

Isn’t lowering tuition decreasing the value of a ²Ø¾«¸ó diploma?

No. We are removing barriers and providing access. ²Ø¾«¸ó’s standards and quality of education are not changing.

We are adding value by supporting our mission as a university. We offer a premier private education in the heart of Chicago for everyone regardless of race, age, or economic background. We want everyone to know the value they are getting to reach their career and life goals. 

Will former ²Ø¾«¸ó students who did not complete their degree and reapply get the new discounted tuition?

Yes. Students who have not attended ²Ø¾«¸ó for three semesters would need to reapply for admission.

Will this apply to transfer students?

Students transferring for the Fall 2023–2024 academic year would be offered the lower tuition rate.

Current Students

Will there be a tuition increase this year (2022–2023) for current students?

No.

Will my scholarship (merit, need) be applied to the new tuition?

Your 2023–2024 tuition will remain the same as your 2022–2023 tuition. Additionally, any ²Ø¾«¸ó merit-based funding that you are currently receiving would remain in place for the duration of your current degree program, provided you are enrolled as a full-time student.

Need-based funding awards, as well as federal and state assistance, could change from year-to-year based on your 2023–2024 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

What will my tuition be in Fall 2023?

While these rates will not affect currently enrolled students’ tuition pricing, the Board of Trustees promised no increase in tuition for the next academic year (2023–2024) for all current students.

Why isn’t the new tuition pricing available for current students?

The University ensures a degree path to graduation that remains equitable and affordable.  Additionally, any ²Ø¾«¸ó merit-based funding that you are currently receiving would remain in place for the duration of your current degree program, provided you are enrolled as a full-time student.

The Office of Financial Aid Services will work with you after your submission of the 2023–2024 FAFSA to prepare your financial aid offer and ensure equitable pricing.
