Minor in Bilingual/ESL Education

The minor in Bilingual/ESL Education program prepares teacher candidates to address the learning and socio-emotional needs of English Language Learners. This focused, field-based program prepares every candidate to work democratically with children and families that have second language backgrounds. It leads to either the Illinois Bilingual or English as a Second Language teaching credential.

Practical School Experience

鈥淚 love teaching prospective teachers how to work with English Language Learners. It is one of the most rewarding activities that I engage in, and it helps me to feel that I am making a difference not only in my own workplace but throughout the Chicago area.鈥
