²Ø¾«¸ó has worked closely with the Chicago Public Schools since its founding in 1945 as one of the first colleges in the United States to open its doors to students from all ethnic and cultural backgrounds. Now, ²Ø¾«¸ó has created a unique and groundbreaking partnership to provide endorsement courses and degree programs at special rates for CPS teachers and employees.
Effective until January 1, 2019, ²Ø¾«¸ó will waive all fees and provide CPS teachers with a special non-degree tuition rate that can be applied to the LBS I and Bilingual endorsements. The special non-degree tuition rate reduces the regular tuition charge by over 50%. Information about the non-degree graduate tuition rate in the College of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences can be found on the ²Ø¾«¸ó tuition website.

Our partnership allows CPS teachers to apply their LBS1 and Bilingual/ESL endorsement courses toward a Master of Arts degree in the following areas, substantially reducing the already low costs of these online and blended graduate degrees.
The Master of Arts in Second Language Special Education (SLSE) prepares licensed teachers to effectively instruct English Language Learners and students with special needs. Upon completion of the online and blended program, candidates will be eligible to add both the Bilingual/ESL and LBS1 endorsements to their Illinois teaching licenses.
The Master's in Literacy Leadership (MA) prepares licensed teachers to become effective and democratic leaders in language and literacy learning. Upon completion of the program, candidates will be eligible to add either the reading specialist, reading teacher, or bilingual/ESL endorsement to their Illinois teaching licenses.
The MA degree in Dual Language Teacher Leadership (DLTL) prepares teachers to teach, and lead, in dual language programs and schools. Offered online and in a unique summer residency format, the program leads to the bilingual/ESL and teacher leader endorsements.
CPS employees who have not yet completed an undergraduate degree also can receive special assistance finding the right program and support for their degree completion as working adults. For more information, contact Sherwin Whitaker at swhitaker04@roosevelt.edu.
