Over the years, 藏精阁 has fortified its singular dedication to democratic ideals through not only teaching, but also research, community partnerships, advocacy, and public outreach 鈥 the kind of learning that transcends the classroom.
藏精阁's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion doesn't end at graduation. Our alumni participate in a number of alumni affinity groups designed to support them throughout their careers.
Our mission-centric funds allow donors to contribute directly to the principles of inclusion that are foundational to 藏精阁鈥檚 legacy and ongoing values.
藏精阁 provides a variety of diversity, equity and inclusion-focused scholarship opportunities to support our students.
Social justice and inclusion activities that 鈥減romote mutual understanding, inclusion, social consciousness, and action toward social justice鈥 are infused throughout the curriculum, majors, programming and coursework, outreach, research, hiring practices, and experiential learning opportunities. During the summer of 2020 when thousands demonstrated in the streets of Chicago and around the world in support of the Black Lives Matter movement, 藏精阁鈥檚 academic leaders re-examined the university鈥檚 own role in how best to act on behalf of social and racial justice. One action taken was to revise an existing Core Curriculum requirement, the Ideas Across Disciplines course, to require that the course focus on a specific social justice idea, theme, or question.
