Sample Instructional Leadership Courses

Students can expect focused and practical assignments, engaging and intensive discussions and small group projects, and multiple opportunities to complete field experiences and projects that dovetail with individual goals and school improvement plans.

At the heart of the Instructional Leadership program is job-embedded coursework taught by practicing school and district leaders across Chicago and the suburbs.

The MA, ILED is delivered using a hybrid model with in-person classes in the summer, and remote classes throughout the school year to ensure that candidates have the opportunity to engage in projects in their schools that help develop their leadership skills. ²Ø¾«¸ó's history around Social Justice Education is built into the Instructional Leadership Program. Candidates have an opportunity to select the Teacher Leader track or the Principal Endorsement Track once they have completed the first year of coursework.

Instructional Leadership Careers

The program in educational leadership is designed for students who wish to be educational leaders in schools, post-secondary institutions, professional associations, nonprofit organizations and the government.

The MA in Instructional Leadership prepares licensed teachers to become teacher leaders, assistant principals and principals in diverse schools and community contexts. All goals, activities, outcomes, field experiences, assessments and internship courses meet state rules and regulations. They are aligned with the Interstate School Leaders Licensure Consortium (ISLLC, 2008) Standards.
