About Me
Dr. Amuwo completed the dual Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) and Master of Public Health (MPH) degrees at the University of Maryland Baltimore School of Pharmacy and School of Medicine, respectively. She completed a PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at the Winchester Medical Center in Winchester, VA. She is also Board Certified as a Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS). Dr. Amuwo is currently an Assistant Professor of Clinical Sciences in the College of Science, Health, and Pharmacy.
Dr. Amuwo serves as an internal medicine clinical pharmacist at Mount Sinai Hospital, a safety-net, level one trauma medical center in the west side of Chicago. Mount Sinai hospital provides care to a primarily urban, medically underserved, lower income population with patients who experience homelessness, and are from racial and ethnic minority groups. Dr. Amuwo works closely with the interdisciplinary internal medicine team to optimize patient care and improve clinical outcomes. Additionally, she is involved in precepting final year students on their internal medicine Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences (APPE).
Dr. Amuwo was awarded the Faculty Preceptor of the Year award for the year 2022. She currently serves as the secretary of Northern Illinois Society of Health-System Pharmacists (NISHP), the Chicagoland affiliate for the Illinois Council of Health-System Pharmacists (ICHP). She also serves on the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) and social media (PEARLS) committee for ICHP. She is also a contributor to the Pharmacy Learning Network (PLN). Her clinical interests include internal medicine, infectious diseases, and women’s health. Her public health interests include health outcomes, medication safety, health disparity, emergency preparedness, and medical missions.
